Oldenettel has been active in real estate for 28 years and was the Managing Broker-Owner of RE/MAX Results Plus, Inc. in Jacksonville since 1996.

He is a Past President of the Illinois Association of REALTORS® and serviced as the leader of the state’s 42,000 REALTOR® members.

Oldenettel has chaired the Illinois Association of REALTORS® Leadership Committee, Finance Committee, Professional Development Member Involvement Group, the National Association of REALTORS® Political Advisory Working Group, the state association’s Board of Directors, and twice chaired the Convention and Inaugural Banquet Working Group. He has lent his expertise to many IAR committees including Strategic Planning, Executive, REALTORS® Political Involvement, Grievance and Professional Standards. Oldenettel has also served on the Education, Business Issues/License Law working groups.

Oldenettel served as president of the Illinois Real Estate Educational Foundation in 2007 and 2008, and served twice as dean of the REALTOR® Institute Working Group. He is an Illinois licensed continuing education instructor.

For the National Association of REALTORS®, Oldenettel is the a Chair of the Broker Involvement Council, has served as a member of the Equal Opportunity-Cultural Diversity Committee, the Public Policy Coordinating Committee, is the Chair of the Risk Management Issues Committee, and is a member of the Board of Directors.

He is a two-term past president of the Jacksonville Area Association of REALTORS® leading the association in 1995 and again in 2005. He has a long history of participation with the local association, serving on the board of directors and as chair of the Finance/Personnel, Legislative Affairs, Program/Education and Public Relations committees.

In 2016, he was appointed by Governor Bruce Rauner to the Illinois Real Estate Administration and Disciplinary Board, and the Illinois Real Estate Education Advisory Council.

Oldenettel is active with Jacksonville Area Chamber of Commerce, the City of Jacksonville’s Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals, and the School District 117 - Vision 117 Committee. He served on the Advisory Board of the Jacksonville Salvation Amry, was a youth coach with the Jacksonville Soccer Club and is a past president of the Jacksonville Kiwanis Club. He also is a diver with the Jacksonville/Morgan County Underwater Search and Rescue Dive Team.

His wife, Lori, is the Coordinator of Community Engagement and Services for Illinois College, is an Alderman for the City of Jacksonville, and helps to raise their 4 sons, Parker (20), Nash (18), Kellon (8), and Beckham (5).
